A trade m cattle is now springing up between New Zealand and Tasmania where tlie tax on imported cattle has lately been remitted. The Tasumnian 1 Mail says a suitablo steamer is under otfer for the cattle trade, provided the proprietor, can getja guarantee of seven-ty-five hoad of cattle per month, the freight only chargeable on the animals f being delivered alive. The negotiations are assuming a satisfactory aspect, and there is every probability of the vessel m question being placed on tho trade very shortly .The Union Steam shippiug Company are also contemplating entering into tho. cattle trade on a sysr tematic scale, and to that end arrarigoments are now under consideration by which cattle will be shipped direct from Bluff to Hobart. At present stock are sometimes four days on board before the vessel clears the New Zealand shore, owing' to the animals being shipped at tlie . iirst port of call j but by shipping "at the Bluff the voyage will bo rednced to three days.
