(Post)' It is stated that a short time ago tho natives of the old mission station at Otaki were for a while troubled m mind on the subject of Hauhauisui; and displayed a strong inclination to throw over' Christianity, and give up its worship. After ono or two big meetings, at which large numbers of the natives along the coast were represented, the matter was fully discussed, and a 'determination was finally come to to cliug to the old faith. The next morning the chiefs presented the Rev. Mr M' William with the sum hi £50, to be devoted towards renovating the Maori church. Another £100 will be required, and to this end a sale ofgoods will shortly take place at Otaki. Some ladies m Wnnganiii are busily engaged m making suitable articles for the. sale, and it ia mentioned that tho Otaki chief Hema to Ao, who represents the Western Maori Electoral district; 'has collected upwards of £50 towards the fund from his fellow-members of Par--1 lament. Amongst the contributors, Sir George Grey gave £5, and the Hon. Robert Stout ,£2. '
