In December last a lad, 13 years of iis;o, named Edward Cox, working at Birch Hill Station, Ashley, left his home with an old man named Travels without the consent of his parents. Ho was seen at Kaikoura, but though the police have made inquiries all over, the. colony, nothing was heard -of him until last week, when Travel's, who has enticed the boy away, was arrested for horse stealing at Ahaura, West C »ast. He stated that the boy was living at the House of one Mac Don ..aid. His parents', who despaired of seeing them again, were informed and instiuctions have been sent to the Ahaura police to bend the boy to Christchurch. Mr A. Gr. Howland, coachbuilder, has ju-t completed a bath chair, which he intends offering as a present to Sir Julius Yogel, who wishes to obtain a handy conveyance to take him from his residence to the House of Representatives. At the half-yenily meeting of the Southern' Cro>s Petroleum Company to-night, Mr Spackman, chairman, stated that No. 2 bore was down 710fc. Dunedin, Sept. 11. The Borough of South Dunedin took a poll to-day for a LIO,OOO loan. Only ten voted against it, and it was affirmed by a majority of over 120.
