(united pbess association.) Auckland, June 3. The City South Licensing Committee cancelled one license for Sunday trading, and contemplate cancelling* another on other grounds. They intimate that they would cancel every license where there was conviction for Sunday trading. Dunediv, June 8. The Central Licensing Committee, l>y a majority, granted extension till midnight to all applicants, but refused applications for ne-v licenses. The Suburban Licensing Court at South Dunediu refused to grant any licenses, and voted LlO to assist m putting- down sly g«og shops. They also decided to bring 1 under ihe notice of the Minister oi' justice a decision of the Magistrate, that when demanding admittance to a hotel the police must notify under which clause of the Licensing Act he demands it. In Duneilin Central all midnight licenses were granted. One publican who had only applied for an 11 o'clock "license, on intimating that l:o would have applied for a midnight license had he thought it n-ould have been granted, had his wish complied with. Lnyrrcargill, June 3. The Invercargill Licensing committee met to-day and fixed the hour for closing all hotels at 10 o'clock, with the exception of the Albion and the Southland Club, which will retain 11 o'clock licenses. The Co utniUe of the second Ward informed the licensee of the Prince of Wales that the fact that the house was of wood was the only barrier of granting the extended license to the hotel. Cukistchurch, June 3. The Licensing 1 Committee refused to renew the license of the Victorian Hotel, Coloinbo-strtet,on the grouuds that the premises were unsuitable to modern requirements and very close to another hotel. Wellington, June 4 The Porirua Licensiug Committee granted new licenses to all the applicants. The Lambton Licensing Committee to-day granted midnight licenses to the majority of the houses but only lOo'clock and 1 1 (/clock licenses to some huusisanly doing bar trade, and the conduct of which was not altogether satisfactory. SSoine cases were adjourned.
