YESTERDAY'S MEETING-. [Continuation of Report.") Letter from Mr Hamilton, Karere, re the disgraceful state of a drain and requesting; a bridge to be erected. Mr Sly offered t,o examine the drain and report en the matter to the board. Letter re adjustment of accounts from Orona County Concil. The Chairman stated (bat although the Board rould not repudiate any liuliiluies ham led over by the (Jouncil yet it would be a« well to call a special meeting of the Board so that members might clearly understand their position. He believed the assets to be taken over would be valuable and although a money difficulty would probably arise he had no doubt the members of the Board would find a satisfactory way out of such difficulties. Letters received from Hon. W, Johnston re section 443. The Chairnifiii explained the whole position of this matler from the beginning and showed conclusive by that the Board :idh been vei y unfairly dealt with by the Government m the sale of the section. The land to all intents and purposes was a deferred payment section, and such being the case the Boa) d was entitled to a portion of the proceeds. Application read from Mr Kendall, manager for Captain Hewett, to eiect

He had seen a considerable amount of damage done by the cattle of persons who had such privileges running on the proper y oi" the Board and oilier ratepayers had to pay for it. Tie Chairman saw no reason m this case why the application should not be granted as the only resident affected by the erection of such gate wa< agreeable to the prounsal. Warden. Akus agreed with tho chairman on the matter. Warden Pratt objected to the application being granted m this instance. As the chairman had stated the erection of the gate might be to the advantage of the Board but m most cases they were used as a convenience to make use of the road lines as grazing paddocks*. It wa* proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Warden Alters aud carried — That tho application be granted. A similar application of Mr Coombes was considered and a resolution granting the same carried on the casting vote of iho chairman. Letter irom Mr Brady, Bnnnythorpe. re payment, of account. The secretary was authorized to write and inform him it would be paid when the Board is ia funds. A. deputation consisting of Messrs Cleavely, Rogers and another waited on the Board, re the special iare Bunuythorpe-Kaiianga Road. It was resolved that the consideration of this matter be gone into at the special meeting of the Board. Letter irom Mr Christensen re Stoney Creek Ko:td. Mr Irving waited on the Board m support of the letter and was informed that nothing could be done until the Board wan m funds. A similar reply was given to Mr Russell re the payment of his account. The Board then went into Committee.
