JSTelson, May 27. . Last night a twelve-roomed house at Wakapuka, belonging to W. Wastney, was burned to the ground together with carriage-house, &c. The buildings were insured for £650 and the furniture for £450, both m the South British. This afternoon a fire broke out in' a seven-roomed' house m Brook-street,

owned ami occupied by W. Lockey, a ca'> proprietor, during the absence 'of the family. Tho upper rooms were completely destroyed, but the lower ones were saved,* and the furniture from the latter was rescueJ. The building was insured m the South British for £150; the furniture m tho Australian Mercantile for £100 Two hours later the tire broke out anew, but was quickly extinguished.
