THE WOOLLEN INDUSTRY.
Elsewhere, m our present issue, we publish the prospectus of the Wellington Woollen Mamilacturiug Company Limited, which we lecommeml asi a proposal well worthy of the con-
sideration of our readers. The great success which has attended the Mod»iel, Koslyn, and Kaiapoi Factories m the South Island affords a reasonguarantee that this undertaking, (the only one of its kind m the North Island) will also m the course of time with careful management develop similarly satisfactory results. There is at present an immense amount of money sent out of the colony yearly for woollen and other goods, which might be retained to circulate among ourselves instead of being exported to enrich foreign manufacturers. The establishment of native industries will m lime do much to remedy this evil and assist m keeping the colony free from the great depressions, which the want of such means of creating and retaining capital have hitherto occasioned.
