The ketch Prospect, bound from Ferntown to Nelson with a cargo of coal, when running into Astrolabe through stress of weather, became a total wreck by striking on a reef. She was owned »>y Mr J. C. Buttord, and valued at £200, and was uninsured. Dunediv, May 14. A boy named Murray, eight years old, has been killed whilst riding on the railway trucks by which sand is brought from the Ocean Beach to the reclamation, at the site of the new railway station m the city. Wellington, May 14. The late Mr Oliver Wakefield, who was killed by the tram accident m Dnncdin recently, had bequeathed £92 as an endowment for the beneflt of the Benevolent Institution. AncKLAND, May 14. A man, name unknown, engaged by Mr'Heavey, landlord of the Lichh'elcl Hotel, was drowned whilst driving across a creek between Lich field and Waotu. The buggy and horses were found stuck m the creek. There were no traces of the driver.
