■■ The following appears m the Marton paper ;— Sm, —The Wanganui Chronicle states that Mr G, W. Russell, of Tal. mereton, was spoken of as a likely cand?^ date for the Manawatu seat m the House of, Bepreßentativeß, but that he is nofc now likely to.Bta^d,, : J suppoße he t knowa a trick worth' two of that', for, if he were to come forward^ fye r would be beaten worse than' He, was for FoitonV The elector! • of Matirtwatu have never thought of him as a candidate at all j but there is another Mr Russell, a settler near Palmerston, whom they would like to see
come out, as they think he would make as good a member as his brother (Ciiptain Russell) did before him. It seems that Mr G. W. Russell must have been trading on the rumour which is abroad about the probable candidature of his name* sake. — I am, &c, Elkctor. Feilding, February 6th, 1884.
