Special Meeting.
Mo n day, December 3 1 st, 1883. Present— Crs. Macaithur, (Chairman), Sly, Skerman, Walker, Douglas, Engles, and Me Beth. Account* passed for payment, £460 10s. Proposed by Cr Macarthur, seconded by Cr Skerman -"That Councillors Mcßeth and Walker sign, cheques' at this meeting. Carried. Proposed by Cr Macarthur, seconded by Or Engles—" That the dog tax for" the year 1884 in the County of Oroua be a uniform rate of 10s; that Mr Bray be appointed registrar for the Waituna, Kiwitea.and Ashnrst ridings; and that Mr Armstrong be registrar for Taonui and Fiizherbert ridings; that they bo paid 10s per dog for all unregisteied dogs destroyed, the number to be sworn to by affidavit, and 10s for all dogs registered belonging to nonratepayers; that they be paid 2s per dog for all dogs registered belonging to ratepayers; that any penalty recovered be paid to the registrars less any cost incurred by the County. Proposed by Cr Macarthur, seconded by Cr SLarman :—" That the Chairman be authorised to call for and accept tenders for dog collars and obtain badges for 1884: and to notify the time within which all dogs must be registered, and that the County office, Feildiuo;, and the Manawatu Road office, Palmerston North, to be the registry offices, as required by the Act." Proposed by Cr Walker, seconded by Cr Engle» :- " That the slaughter license for the year, 1884 ; being fixed at £1 to the 31st December." Proposed by Cr Engles, seconded by Cr Sly:— "That the Chairman be authorised to communicate with the Manawacu County Council requesting them to renew the application before the separation of the Couuties for funds to repair the Awa Huri Bridge.'? The Council then adjourned.
