FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' FETE.
[to the editor of the standard.] Sir, — I quite approve of you. suggestion in yesterday's paper to have au j annual Friendly Socieiies' Fete und«' r the auspices of all the bodies iu the di s tiicts named. There are now estai, hshed in those districts, Druids, She D herds, Foresters, and Oddfellows, a |J being fairly well represented. TJiere are besides Rechabires, Good Templar, with other bat«alions of the I3hc Ribbon Army, besides the Orangemen, (though the las mentioned are not I belief e JJriencljrSocieu*.;. If a |l these were to combine and arrange for an annual iestiva at Palmerston, ( Hs being most central and easily accessible,) the eveut would come go be regarded &. one of the duet attractions of the year. The benefits, socially speaking, resulting from a reunion on such a extensive scalo could not tail to prove most beuefieial, and the advantageous influences would manifest themselves far aud near. I trust the suggestion will not be lost si^ht of. —I am, &c, ° TJmos is Strength.
