RAILWAY FENCING.

In the House on Wednesday, the Hon. Mr Johnston, replying to Mr Postlethwaite and Mr Daniel as to fencing off railways from open lands, said it would be advantageous to have all the lines fenced : but m cases where laud had bepn taken and conpensation paid, he believed that not only was severance Daid for, but also the estimated cost of fencing. He would inquire further into that matter. As the cost of fencing 1 would probably be J 100,000, he thought ch^t if Government h*d already made aa allowance for fencing they should not have to pay it over again, but should call on those who had received land compensation to fence the line.
