In the Supreme Court, the case of Hayhurst v, Matthews and Tres : ze closed last evening, a geaeral verdict being returned for the defendants. An interesting point aro3e m tbe case. One of the covenants of the leasa wa6 that three consecutive coin crops should not be taken ofi tbe land. The evidence of several experts was taken, and a lengthy argument was heard as to whether the lessor intended by chis covenant to forbid tbe sowing a third crop of wheat, or whether to merely forbid the growing to maturity of a third crop . Did gram crop mean turnips, rape,potatoes, beans, &c, or could immature wheat be so described 1 Opinions were divided, but as the defendants bad cut the third crop when m an immature state, the jury found for them.
