Assisted Immigration.
A DESPATCH FROM THE AGENT-GENERAL.
Cby telegraph. 1 (united press association.) Wellington, May 5. The Agent-General writing tinder date of March 19th, states that he has decided to entertain the application from a few married Scotchmen, who are either shepherds or farm laborers, provided they are prepared to pay the full passage money for any children they may have, and £5 towards their I own. He also reported that four cases have resulted fatally from typhus fevpr, which he mentioned last mail had broken out among the emigrants on board the Oxford. A mmour was current that Ihe fever originated m an Emigration Depot, and there were other complains made by the emigrants as to ship'ri provisions, etc., into which be was making full enquiry, and would not express any opinion at present beyond that some of the complaints appear to him well founded, while others were frivolous and much exaggerated. His reason for suspending emigration until after June, is So as not to have the people arriving m the colony m the winter.
