Qn Sunday morning, some six boys were playing with gunpowder, when a lad named Wright threw down a lighted match, which fell into a tin containing, ab^ut half a pound of the explosive. The result was that the tin was blown to pieces, and a boy named Holland, who held it, Ind his thumb an<* the p .lm of his right hand shattered, while Wright escaped with his hair and eyebrows burnt off. At the presentation ot the portrait and address to Mr "W. Norman by, at the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the president said the time had arrived for the appointment of a Minister ot Agriculture. Napieb, April 10. At the Synod to-day, a great manymatters were dealt with, but noue of great interest. The opponents of the Incorporation Bill, introduced into Parliament last session, secured a side hit at the commission which prepared the Bill, by passing a motion that Bills introduced into Parliament as by the authority of the t'ynpd, shall first be submitted m draft form to the Synod. Resolutions congratulating the new Archbishop of Canterbury, and condoling with the family of the late Archbishop, were carried unanimously. Archdeacon Stock introduced a Bill defining communications for church governing purposes to mean any man over 21 who has subscribed a declaration m the church-varden's book. A. Select Committee was appointed to define the meaning of "licensed clergy," and to consider the desirability of establishing a Church newspaper to take the place of ! various diocesan periodicals now issued. The debate on Archdeacon Stock's motion for the establishment of a general pension land fund for the clergy was interrupted by the afternoon ad-* journment. The cou:t of inquiry into the acci» dent to the Johann Adolph was held to«day. The court held no one to blame, the accident occurring through want of proper power, m the steamstug emplojei. Inyercargii.li, April 10. Mr C. Andrews, of Winton, on Saturday lost by fire his sheds, horse, harness, grain, ar:d plant, to the value of £400, uninsured.
