CAPTURE '>F A SUPPOSED BANK ROBBER. «

On the 21 st October last a warrant was issued against a young man named Frank Hodgson, who is most respectably connected, oi a charge of stealing £500 from the National Bank at Nelson m 1881. The accused succeeded m evading the police, and for a considerable tima' no trace of him could be discovered. About two months ago, from information received, three officers were seat to Wangamoa, and, reaching there just before daylight, surrounded the house, but on searching found that Hodgson, though he had recently been there, was hot sleeping m the house. Frequent attempts to effect a capture having proved ineffectual, Inspector Atcheson, m the name of some gentleman interested m prospecting;, chartered a schooner on Friday last for the avowed purpose of prospecting for copppr, and securing the services of Mr Ward, native iutrepreter, sent him with Constable ßoske to search the Croixelles and Pelorus Sound. Mr Ward, representing himself as a prosn pector, and also the uncle of the young man ho was eager to discover, and whose photograph he showed, obtained mform~ ation that he was m th& locality, and at break of day on Sunday morning he knocked up the people at the house where the absconder was supposed to be, A search revealed a young man calling himself Fredk. Bale, and who at first denied his identity, but on seeing Constable Roske, he admitted his name and was taken by land and water to the Oroiscelles and brought thence by the schooner. He was charged this morning at the Police -Court, and remanded for a week. _
