[Continuation of Report. " Proposed by Cr Fry, and seconded by Cr Sanson— That the Council cannot accede to the requests of the Clerks of the Licensing Committees as to being allowed more than actual travelling expenses. Carried. ProposeM by Cr Linton and seconded by Cr Bruce — That the action of the Chairman m applying tor the gazafcting ot certain roads m the Manchester Block, at the request of Cra Linton and Fry, be confirmed. Proposed by Or Rockstrow, and sec* onded by Cr Mcßeth —That the action | of the chairman ia having the FoxtonMotoua road gaz;tted a main-road be confirmed. Carried. Proposed by Or Rockstrow, and seconded by Cr Sanaon — That this Couns cil does not recognise the right of the Manawatu Highway Board to censure any action or the Council, or it 3 execa* tive, m any matter pertaining to this Council, and that the Clerk be instructed to return the letter containing a censure on this Council to the chairman of the Manawatu Highway Board; Carried. In reference to the above resolution, theChairman saia that whea he received the letter he thought of returning ib at once, as being of too insolent a character to be entertained, but afterwards considered it would be better for the Council to discuss it. It was not likely that they would suffer any interference from any other local body. He did not consider there had been any neglect, but m any case the matter had been iully ex* plained to the Board by Cr Bruce, Cr Sanson was surprised that more mistakes had not occurred, seeing that everything having to be done m preparing plans, &c, had to be done m such a hurry. He considered it was an attempt on the part of the Board to make up a case to lower the Council m the eyes ot the public as much as possible. Proposed by Cr Bruce, and seconded by Cr Fry— That the letter of Mr Hoe, Secretary of the Manawatu Roai Board, re bridg? across drain at Kurere, and the letter from Mr Fulton, Engineer of the West Coasb Railway, re road diversion at Longbum, be referred to Mr Bray to report upon.— Carried. Proposed by Or Liv ton, and seconded by Cr Fry— That the application of the Halcombe Road Board, re grant for roads, <&c, be granted to the extent ot £70, when the Council's Engineer has given his certificate of his approval of the works completed. — Carried. Proposed by Or Sans»on, and seconded by Or Bruce— ihat this Council cannot comply with request from Manawatu Highway Board, viz,, to grant leave to Mr Nathan to Cake gravel from reserve m Rangitikei Line, as it requires the gravel lor CouQty roads. — Oarried. Mr Williamson, irom Kiwi tea, waited on the Council, re road m Mackay's Line, stating that tue road had been scheduled, but not Uefiued. He considered tue road asked tor by a number oi settlers on a petition to the Council was not equal, or would not prove so beneficial to settlers as the route decided ou previously by a petition to Government. Proposed by Cr Sanson and seconded by Or Mo Beth — That tho petition from settlers at Kivritea • be received. Oarried. Proposed by Cr feanson and seconded by Cr Mcßeth— Ihat the road ka"wn as Mackay's Line m the Kivritea Riding aid scheduled as a main road be aihcred to m accordance with the p;ayer ot settlers ia that district. j Carried. Proposed by Or Fry and seconded by Cr Sunson — That this council request i the chair'aan to apply to the Government to have the road from Oauninghum's house through the Waituna and Utamakapua Block, (about 15 miles) gazetted a main road. Carded Proposed by Cr Kockstrow and seconded by Cr Gray — that this Couu* cii hereby give notice that it is intended to merge the Fox ton Koa 1 Board as gazetted into the County of Manawatu on the Ist day of May 1883, and tho Foxton Road Board shall be dissolved on such date. Carried. Leave of absance was granted to Cr Had field, and the Council adjourned.
