JNTERPROVINCIAL^ (united pbess association.) / ; Napieb, Feb. 27. .At the resident Magistrate's' Court toaday a publican was fined £7 and costs for an assault of the most severe and must bestial character. Three of the publican's witnesses were ordered to be prosecuted for perjury. The Herald says that it has good authority for saying that not only was Te Kooti's pardon fully discussed at the Cabinet, but that Ministers, before taking any decisive step, consulted his Excellency, and obtained from him the promise of a dissolution m the event of an adverse vote m the House on the question. Christohurch, Feb. 27. Jacobsen has submitted some of his supposed New Zealand diamonds to C. F. Bnttoa, who tested them, and found only one genuine.
