NGATIMOTI.

Rather more than a week ago a meeting of ratepayers of the district, was held in the Ngatimoti school for the purpose of forming a Sparrow Club, and Messrs E, Robinson, Thos. Heath, J. Canton, J. A. Guy, and D. McGaveston *vere elected the committee. The Committee held their first meeting on Saturday evening, the 23 rd ihst, when Mr Guy was elected chairman, and secretary. Considerable discussion took place as to the best time for poisoning and which would be the b°st poisoned grain to use. It was considered advisable that no unnecessary delay should take place in making a start to destroy the birds, not only sparrows, but blackbirds and thrushes, as they were very severe on the fruit. It was resolved that an application «hould be made to the Waimea County Council for money.
