MOTUEKA WHARF BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was .held on - Monday afternoon. Present, Messrs Wratt (chairman),* Everett and Beuke. Minutes of previous,* meeting read and adopted. Accounts amounting to ..£3o6' 11s were passed for payment, Mr Currin to be paid 75 per cent arid the balance on receipt of Mr Akersten’s certificate. Resolved, on the motion of Mr Beuke seconded by Mr Everett, That in future all payments be made by cheque. Proposed by Mr Wratt seconded bv Mr Beuke, That applications be called for twelve month’s supply of kerosene oil.
The wharfinger reported that during the month of September 34 vessels arrived and sailed and that the revenue was £3O 17s lid. During the month a heavy north west gale, with heavy north west gale, with heavy sea occurring at) the time of high water spring tides, caused some damage to the protective works at the sand bank, which has been repaired. The TeKapu arrived on the 29th from Greymouth and landed timber for wharf extension. The credit balance of the Board was stated to be L 536 2s 6d.
Tenders for the wharf extension were considered. For labor only in connection with the work only one tender was received, namely that of Messrs Cresswell and Holdaway, the total amount being L 126 10s (L9B for the extension, L 24 10s for the sheds, and L 4 for painting). For the iron work three tenders were received, namely. Anchor Foundry 26s per cwt, E. A. Knapp, 4rt per lb, Drogmuller 4|d per lb. It was decided to accept the tenders of the Anchor Company and also that of Cresswell and Holdaway lor wharf extension, the other work to be carried out provided the chairman cau make the necessary financial arrangements. Resolved, that Mr Akersten be B paM LlO on account, in accordance with request. Seven applications were received for the position of Secretary to the Board. After consideration, Mr William Boyct. was appointed. A letter from Mr Manoy, complaining of the deposit of artificial manures in the sheds was read and it was decided to inform Mr Manoy that the complaint would be attended to.
