Frjbnds,—Salutations to all of you. 1 battt received a : Maori paper, printed at Wellington; giving an account of the afohoprent doings of the. men ofTaranaki, whar.mutilated [their victims] with tomahawks. Alas! this wicked and abhorrent deed. Alas, 0 my loving friends residing a: Wairarapa, Wellington, Napier, and Auckland. My .distress on accouat of the wicked .doings of lbis people, is very great;—these people are UMH-e .wicked than any other in this island, | Cor tbey give no iieedto the words of God, nor tOrtbe taws of. the Queen, but they turn aside; to do wickedly.
