INTOXICATING DRINKS.
It is our firm conviction, that the general disuse of intoxicating drinks by Christians, would by the moral influence thus exercised on all within their reach, have the effect of saving from ruin a far larger number than are likely to be rescued by reformatory efforts after the path of sin has been trodden. To prevent an evil is belter than to effect a cure. l The use, even the most moderate use of intoxicanJs by society generally, and Christian in particular, tends to conceal the peril arising from drinking habits. From the ranks of moderate drinkers fall off, from day to day, the weak aud erring men who in due lime sink into the abyss of confirmed and helpless drunkenness. —The Quiver.
