RULES AMD REGULATIONS FOR SCHOOLS IN CONNECTION WITH THE NORTHERN DIVISION OF THE EDUCATIONAL BOARD.

General Principle. According to the provisions of the Governor's letter all schools which receive any portion of the government grant, shall be conducted upon llio principles of a religious education, industrial training, and instruction in the English language. C.uniiui. Schools. 1 .No School shall he deemed a Centra School within the moaning of the Governor's letter, which shall not have been designated for that purpose hy the Hoard. S. IVO School shall he designated as a Central School unless persons of the Native race he hoarded therein, and trained to he teachers of Primary Schools. 5. The following have heen already designated as Central Schools: St. Stephen's, Tanrarna. i Kohanga, (the Rev. Il.MatinseH's.) Titkupoto, (the Ilcv. 11. Y. Ashwell's.) Tnrnngn, (the Venerable Archdeacon William 'Williams'.) Primaiiy Schools, i. Subject to the above principle, destitute children of all classes, whether of European or half-caste race, or from other Islands of the Pacific Ocean, may be received into these

The Managers of the Central Schools shall elect Examiners, being incnilicrs () f the Church of England, to act with the Hishnp of New Zealand, or the Archdeacon of Waitcmaln, as a Hoard for examining and accrediting candidates for native trarhrrships. 2. A certificate granted (o a teacher of the first class ivill remain in force for three years from the dale thereof, subject to good behaviour. Location or Ti:.vc.ur.ns. 1. A list will he kept by the Secretary of all persons accredited by (he Hoard, whether as teachers or Probationers, and all tptcslions relating to their location and employment will be decided al the annual meeting of the Hoard. 2. In every question of location, due regard will lie had lo Ihe recommendation of Clergymen in charge of ihe District. 5.
