THE SOUL OF MAN.
The soul of man is a great light reflected upon itself—"The candle of the Lord searching all the innermost parts." It is a beam from the sun, a candle lighted from the light of heaven; and the light of this caml e is ever streaming out and ie Mowing upon itself; like a diamond always plajing with mid in its own light. It may he covered with thickness and ijiossness of earthly vapours from the body ; lint it is inseparable from its nature to he light. It cannot but in some degree shine and se:id out itself, though its beams In: but pale ami nail, but when it hath any greater freedom and resolutely moves itself, (lure is a circle of rays about it, which breaks out from itself. In Us creation, in its native splendour, it was of angelic brightness, man to (ind. and Divine glories and all the excellencies of understanding were its broken lustre; and in ctrrnitv it will again rend all iis clouds, and shine without interruption—and for ever : —'■ Jicivrli/."
