In a previous number, we directed the attention of our readers to the approaching Auckland Regatta; acquainting them that two races, with two prizes in each race, would be expressly set apart for the native canoes. \Vc beg to remind such of our native friends ns tec) disposed to contend for those prizes that the Regatta will take place (wind ami weather permitting) in twenty seven days henre, namely on Wednesday the 29tli January. I The amount of subscriptions to the Regatta Kund not yet completed, the Committee are still unable to stale the value of tho prizes to bo sot apart for tho Native races. These, however, «ill be fully equal to tliosj of last year, if not, a) is to be hoped, considerably more liberal. The competing canoca must bear in mind that tho rules for their governaii'e will be strictly enforced:—that a general rush of canoes will not be permitted but that those manned by an unlimited number of a crew, ond those with a restricted number, must each take their places in the races that have been expressly set apart for them. We trust to see them muster numerously ami cheerfully. The eyes of tho liuropeaiu long to behold their prowess.
