MACRAES.—Feb. 22.

Kesident Magistrates's Court. (Before H. W. Robinson, Esq., R.M.) James Kerr was brought up on remand from Naseby, charged with maliciously killing and shooting a cow, the property of Thomas Stanley. Mr. .Rowlatt for the prosecution, Mr. Bailey for the defence. The evidence showed that the cow had been found dead in the wheat paddock of Mr..Donaldson, the employer of the accused. Some ill feeling had existed between the prosecutor and the accused, and prosecutor stated that the accused had some weeks before threatened to put a charge of shot into some of the cows if they were not kept out of the wheat. The evidence extended to a great length, but there was nothing to connect the accused with shooting the cow. Discharged.

Liwrence Flynn was charged, on the complaint of Tuoinas Stanley, with using threatening and abusive language. It appeared that the: complainant had shot a pig in his paddock. He asked the defendant if it was his. The de fendant, in the course of the conversation that ensued, found fault with h i m for leaving the. pig in a wounded and disabled state, and then used the words complained of. The matter did not occur within hearing of the public road. Complaint dismissed. Laverty v. G-ilchrist.—-Claim for £7 damages. This case had been adjourned from Hyde for judgment. The Court dismissed the case, with professional costs, 21.8. .Boss y. Luks.—Claim for £.4 10s. A set-off of £2 17s was put in.'. Judgment for £3 Is, and 6s costs. Donaldson v. Tait.—Debt, £2 2s: Defendant admitted the amount to be correct, but said he had made a composition with all his creditors except the plaintiff, who had refused. There had been no composition deed nor registration. Judgment for amount claimed and costs 9s. ......
