THE RECENT AFFRAY AT TINKER'S CULLY.
At the .Kesident Magistrate's Court, Black's, on Monday last, before E. 11. Carew, Esq , R.M., the case of Morgan v. Ah Long, alias Jimmy, for assault, was heard. Me. B.rough and Mr. ltowlatt From the evi7ie l that, on Sunday the'llth February, at Tinker's Gully, Frederick 'Morgan, the complainant, had sold and deliverea a quantity of pork to Ah Long an'd'a number of other Chinamen; 1 Shortly after the pork had been delivered to the C'iiriamen, Ah Long returned with a piece of pork and said that it was " short weight." Ah Long got into the butcher's cart and seized Morgan's balan e : si-ales,' for the purpose of reweighing it, when Morgan requested Hitiri to coirie out ot the cart. The Chinapian refused, and then Morgan laid ;hold of the chains of the scales, but the Ch naman pulled them through his hands and aimed a blow atlas head. Morgan partly avo'ded the blow, which came down on his back, and then dragged him (the Chinaman) out of the curt. Ab Long then set up a yell, which brought a number of his countrymen to his assistance. Mr. Brough said that when the case of Ah. Lockagainst Morgan was heard, it would be seen that the serious affray which followed was caused solely by the assault which had been proved, and he asked the Bench to ; defer the sentence until that case would be heard. *
His Worship remanded the accused until Wednesday, at 10 a.m., when the case of Ah Lock against Morgan, which was adjourned in consequence of the absence of the interpreter* will be heard. YVe understand that several informations have been laid against tbe Chinese for assaults, arising out of the serious affray of Sunday, the 11th February, at Tinker's Gu'ly.
