• Resident Magistrates's Court. (Before H. W. Robinson, Esq., R.M.) * Griffin ; v. > Mary Anne ; Cockerel!, , Cockerelli.and Benjamin Cockerell.—This Was a case of assault. 'The three -defendants we children of a neighbor ;of Mr.. -,Griffin's, and were charged -by him -with assaulting his wife bylthrowing stones' and sods at her. It appeared that considerable ill-feeling, prevailed between the families. - As Mrs. Griffin had not been seriously hurt the Court imposed a fine of Is. upon each of the defendants, and.ad vised the seniors on both sides to, cultivate a moros neighborly feeling for "th e future.
Police v. John Eoss—Complaint for breach of .Licensing Osdinance. Case perfectly clear. Fine £2O, and costs £1 6s. 6d.

Struck Mining lease.,applications on behalf ofthe Excelsior Company, Crown Company, perseverance Company, Moonlight Company, Macraes Company, and A; W.Burton were adjourned until the 10th of March prox. The mining lease " application of J. J. Taine, on behalf of the Wellington Company, : was heard, and the Warden decided to recommend it. • The other business (applications, &c.) was of an ordinary character.
