MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting' of the 'Maim wain IJailVljil Board was held in the secretary’s office this afternoon, presided over hv Trustee B. G". Gower (chairman). Also present were Trustees AY. E. Barber, .). P. M'elvlvie, T. Grammar, 1». Boswell, J. Gloyn, A. Grant, and the secretary (Mr. R. Rangihcuca). Mr. D. R. Barron (inspector) was also in attendance. The Agricultural Department wrote, a slicing the cost of the proposed rabbit extermination work set down to be carried out on the Rangitikei river-bed area next month. The inspector reported as Follows : “During the past month 1 have been engaged in the general inspection of properties in the Board area and in following up with personal inspection the properties the owners of which had been requested to carry out further work in legard to rabbit destruction. ““The district is still in very fair order although in certain cases young rabbits which have been missed arc showing up on properties which have appeared to be fairly clear np to the present time. The weather has again been very unsuitable for rabbit destruction .•wing to the high prevailing winds lull nevertheless a fair amount of fumigation has taken place and ihe requests for woitk during the previous month have all been carried out. Pollard has also been laid on several properties during the past month. “A beginning has been made on several properties during the month with the clearing of noxious weeds. All requests made for the clearing of boundary lines adjoining clear properties - have been carried out and on several properties gorsc and lupins arc being cleared at the present time. “Observations are being taken from time to time of the results of the spraying of blackberry and gorse and I hope to have several experiments begun in different portions of the district within the next week or so. “During the month I sent out statutory notices required under the Act to all landowners in the Board area and I will follow those up with personal inspection during the coining month,”
