At last night’s Borough Council meeting the Manawatu Automibile Association wrote stating that it had received several complaints in regard to Foxloii roads and asking that something be done to improwe the following:— (1) The condition of the road waul It of the macadamised portion of (lie main road near the water lower; (2) the “humps” in Main Street which are considered to be very dangerous to motorists entering' Foxton from the north; (3) the dome outside the camping ground at the north end of Pari; Street; (4) the dome al the corner opposite the howling green by shifting into a more suitable position. Regarding the dome outside the camping' site, the Association pointed out that heavy vehicles experience difficulty in negotiating (his corner owing to the sleep slope of. the road. It was suggested that the road be Imuked up on the corner. The Association also pointed out that an olliicer was repainting and re-lettering direction signs in Foxton and asked for any suggestions in the way of new signs, etc.

The .Mayor suggested that the Traffic Inspector be asked to report on “domes" complained aliout. The improvements to the roads mentioned would prove a big job and one that the Council had previously given consideration to. ICr. Barron considered the dome on the Bowling green corner was the only had one.

Cr. Thompson suggested that Park Street corner he widened by metalling a strip alongside the bitumen. The corner, in his opinion, was a had one. The Clerk suggested the best, way of improving the corner would lie to cut the hill back. Such a job would form a good kind of relief work.

It was not safe to ride a horse on 'bitumen and the signs wore erected right in the middle of stock traeiks.

Cr. Barron thought it- would be advisable to erect a “dangerous bend” sign at the corner of Lady’s .Mile and Duncan Street. An accident bad occurred at this spot only last Sunday and unless some steps were taken to warn motorists of the corner more would occur during the summer months as both roads carried a great deal of traffic.

It was decided to advise the Association that the improvements suggested would be carried out as soon as funds permit and it was also resoled to ask that signs be reeled in the localities indicated.

The motoring public gen-t-rally would greatly appreciate anvthing that could be done to improve the road.
