SHIPPING ON INCREASE

AT FORT OF FOXTON

An interesting state of affairs with regard to shipping at the port of Foxton. was pointed out by the secretary at the monthly meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board, Held yesterday. Mr. It. Ltangiheuea drew members attention to the inward wharfage item.in the financial statement which showed the total as at 29/9/30 to be £2032 15/7. The secretary stated that that was the highest figure inward wharfage had reached since he had been secretary to the Board and tlie position would he ever better at the end of the Board’s financial year terminating -on October 31st as neither September nor October had been included in the statement. The £2053 was actual receipts and did not include outstanding amounts which would appeal- in the Working Account in connection with the year’s operations.

The chairman (Mr. J. Linklater) said it was very gratifying- to find shipping- on the increase. He expressed himself as being confident that the port, would develop along successful lines to the benefit of the district as a whole.
