BOWLING

OPENING PAYS. The following are the dates selected by the clubs mentioned for the official opening of their respective greens: — Levin, October 4th. Feilding, October 11th. Northern, October 1-lth. Foxton, October 15th. Shannon, October 22nd. OTAKI GREEN- OPENED. The bowling season in Olaki opened on Saturday in glorious weather. Visitors were present from Neighbouring el,mbs. The president, Dr. Milne, welcomed the visitors, and declared the green open for play. The ladies croquet courts were also officially opened by Dr. Milne. At a meeting of the committee of the Shannon Bowling Club the following resolution was carried: “That a letter be forwarded to Mr .). Linklater, M.P., pointing out that the club takes strong exception to the hanks’ increase of 100 per cent, for bank charges.’’
