CLIFF PORTER HONOURED
Mr Cliff Porter (All Black captain) was entertained by the Mannkau Progressive Association, at A 1 anakan,, last Friday evening, when he was made, the recipient of a handsome clock as a mark of esteem from the residents of the district, where he had played his first game b.f football. The Hui Alai Football Club, with which Porter was associated some years ago, also presented him with an Evershnrp pen and pencil combined. Mr T. Parata added the gift of a valuable Maori mat.
Speaking to an Otaki Mail representative, Mb' Porter admitted that il was going to he a difficult matter to give up football, and he would not be surprised if lie again donned the jersey. He added that lie retired in 1927, lint had been persuaded to again play. Mr Porter is, however, now a golf enthusiast. and this may be the means nl' his retirement from the football arena.
