LEVIN-FOXTON HIGHWAY.
ARRANG EMENDS FOR PAVING SECOND THREE MILES. In his report of the Ilorowlienua County Council on Saturday, the Con nfy Engineer ('Mr. ./. T. M. Brewster) stated that work in connection with the construction of the second three-mile section of No. 1 Highway (Wellington-Auck-land via Foxton) was progressing. Up to September sth, 2 miles 30 chains of formation had been compelled and 1 mile 20 chains of foundation work completed. No. 3 crusher was working at Muhunoa East, crushing pavement metal and chips for the pavement on No. 1 Highway. Following upon an interview with the County Clerk and the receipt of a letter from the County Engineer, the district Engineer (Mr. E. ill. P. Rouayne) wrote ad vising the Council that provision was being made on this year’s highway estimates for three miles of additional pavement (the second ) on the Levin- Whirokino Highway.
