THE “RAINBOW BUDGET.”
“The Leader of the Opposition had referred lo the Financial Statement- as the blac-k Budget,” said the Hon. A. J. St allworthy, Minister for Health, in the House last night. He thought a more appropriate alternative could be found, especially as all manner of colours had been applied in describing what was a courageous document. "The only alternative lo believing members are colour-blind i.-, to call it the. ‘rainbow Budget./ " Mr. BI all worthy said, "The rainbow is a sign of promise. In a political sense we can take it that this rainbow Budget, indicating as it does that the Prime .Minister and the Government are facing the seriousness of the situation, gives promise for the future. In the political sense this rainbow means there will be no more drifting black clouds of Reform, and no more Tory floods to drown this country in disaster.”
