NEW PETROL PRICES
Christchurch, August. 5.
The price of petrol per gallon in (.'lirisf c-hiireh, from this morning, will he 2/- for first grade and 1/11 for second grade. ’fhesc prices wore fixed at a meeting of the Petrol Resellers Association, following the announcement that the oil companies would charge retailers 2d and hear one penny of the increase in duly themselves.

The price of bulk petrol in Dimedin has been advanced 2d a gallon; tor ease petrol the rise is fid. The new prices are already operative. In effect the petrol companies-are paying Id of the new tax of fid a. ■a lion.
Many motorists now realise that some of Ihe garage and petrol stalion proprietors have made-an extra profit of Id a gallon during the pasl week or so, while several of the retailers have (proMtJed handsomely by enforcing the full tax, although the new prices were not pul into effect by the petrol companies till Saturday last.
