AN OPEN VERDICT.
RANG!ORA TRAGEDY. (Christchurch, August 1. An open verdict was returned by the Coroner, Air. 11. D. Mosley, S.AI., at the inquest, held at Rangiorn yesterday, into the death of Samuel Hamilton Wilson., whose remains were found in the debris of his house al: Sefton, burned down on July 30th. Constable Smith said that he went to the scene of the lire and searched among the debris. Under three sheets of iron he found Wilson’s charred remains. After removing the remains, he made a further search and recovered a carving knife. The Coroner said lie could uot bring in a verdict on rumour, but only on the evidence before him. Even if it had been found that the knife was covered with human blood, it would not. throw much light on the matter. “There is no evidence to show liow Wilson came by his death,” the Coroner added, "but his charred remains were found in the debris of his bouse, which was burned down.”
