JO/- LEVY ON ADULT MALES. 1 Wellington, Last'Night. The Unemployment. Bill was introduced by Governor-General's • message in the House to-night. Replying to. questions Hon. S. G. Smith, Minister of Labour, said the Bill did not fully comprise the recommendations of (lie Unemployment Committee. For instauce the committee had recommended the payment of annual levies amounting to 18/- for every male over 18 years of age and 24/- for every I'pale over 20 as well as a levy payable by females. ‘ The Bill did not propose to make any levy at all on males under 20 nor on females, but called for the payment with certain exemptions by all males over 20 of a levy amouniting to thirty shillings per annum. The' Bill was read a first time.
