UNUSUAL ACCIDENT

PETROL DRUM EXPLODES. Hastings, June 2S. A Hastings garage proprietor, Arthur 11. Wilson, was the victim of an unusual accident yesterday afternoon while endeavouring to (.pen an empty 44-gallon petrol drum. He struck (he screw cap ii blow with a spanner. A spark resulted and at once ignited the fumes remaining in the drum. The explosion blew out both ends of the drum. The top end struck him on the side of the head and knocked a hole in the roof of the garage. Wilson was taken to hospital, unci to-day was reported to be progressing favourably.
