Mrs. S. Head, of Wellington, was in Foxton yesterday and to-day. Mr. and Airs. W. E. Barber have returned to Foxton from a visit to Hamilton.

The death has occurred at Dunedin of Air. William A. Low, aged 50, well-known in ■athletic and theatrical circles.

Miss Elva Aloore left Foxton yesterday on a holiday trip lo Sydney. She sails on the Alakiira today and anticipates being away a month.

Miss Aroha Clifford, Hie Christchurch aviatrix, and her lather, Air. Waller Clifford, leave Wellington this mouth by the Kaiigitano, on a trip lo England. Air. R. H. Ronayne has been elected chairman of the District Highways Council for the third successive term. Messrs Jos. Bat - i lular (IJuton) and G. A. Monk (Levin) have been re-elected lo the exeeut ive.

• The Rev. W. .Ain cava died at Sumner, Christchurch, on Sunday, aged S 3. He was a well-known Presbyterian minister. Some years ago the late Mr. Alaeara, ofiieiated as "supply” lo the Foxton charge and during his slay made many friends who will regret to hear of his death.

At a mooting of the committee of the Wanganui Jockey Club yesterday afternoon, AH'. I). R. Robbins was appointed secretary, to fill the vacancy caused through the death of Mr. W Hail. Air.
