An item of £3 10/- had been paid which really did not belong to last year for rent of the hall omitted previously. There were a number of non-recurring items on the balance-sheet in connection with the anniversary show hold during the season. lie considered a saving- of about £2O could bo made during the coming year by accepting- advertisements for the schedule etc., which should enable the Society to meet its expenses. Air. Christie reported on the recommendation of the sub-commit-tee set up at the special general meeting. He said the committee recommended printing the schedule in book form to cover both shows. Certain deletions, to both schedules were recommended, the garden section in particular for if was found the Society was paying out bet ween two agid three guineas for about 7/- entry fees. The location of future shows was discussed, hut after the Masonic Hall had been measured up it was found to be too small and consequently the committee recommended holding future exhibitions in the Town Hall as usual. The omission of advertising from past schedules had undoubtedly been the chief cause of the present financial position of the Societ y and by prut ting the two schedules together in book form with advertisements the committee considered a considerable saving would be effected.

It was decided to hold future shows in the Town Tlall and to request the Borough Council lo iu- : :al more powerful lights in the hall for the purpose. If was decided to publish the two schedules in book form this year, each member and all outside exhibitors lo be given one copy free, subsequent copies to be charged 3d per member.

PRIZE MONEY INCREASED. It was decided to increase the scale of prize money as follows: — One entry only, Ist prize I/-; two entries, Ist 1/-; three entries, Ist 1/(5; four entries, Ist 1/(5; live entries, Ist 2/-; six entries, Ist 2/0, 2nd 1/0. GENERAL. The show dates were fixed as follows: — September 12th and November 2.lst: On the motion of the Rev. W. H. Walton it was decided that the trustees (Messrs Win. Nye snr. and A. S. Walsh) take an inventory of the Society’s property and that in the eVeni of the Society becoming defunct the trustees hold such properly for seven years before disposing of it. Tu moving the above mo lion Rev. Walton said that jt was well known Hint certain of the Society’s property allegedly destroyed in the Town Hall fire and for which insurance had been paid, was to be found around the town. Some had been loaned and some had been taken by “French leave.” He had recently seen a paragraph in a paper lo the effect that Feilding was negotiating with Foxton and another town for the purchase of band instruments as the hand in these (owns had dissolved. He did not know what rules governed the disposal of the band instruments, but it: would be a shame to see them sold as the day might arrive when the band could be resuscitated. He

brought down the resolution merely us a means of safeguarding the Society’s -property. It was decided to have a copy of the ride typed and placed in the minute book together with a copy of the existing rules of the Society.
