VICE-REGAL PARTY AT WANGANUI.
The Governor-General and Ladv niedisliie arrived in Wanganui on Tuesday in coni imiatioii of their •Norili Island lour. They travelled I loin Auckland by Irain and were aid ui rhe Wanganui station by the Mayor (Mr. W. .1. Rogers). Owing to tile indisposition of Ids Excellency n portion of the intended programme was curtailed.
The visitors were the guests ot the Wanganui Rotary Club at lunch, where a convivial atmosphere prevailed. The sergeant a I -arms lined Lord Bledisloe for liaviug the ’Hu and Lady Blcdisloc for having a winning smile. The president ot the clul) was fined for occupying toil much of her ladyship’s uftenI ioll.
In the evening a civic reception was accorded their Excellencies at I lie Opera House. Yesterday they were accorded a Maori gathering on the famous Moutoa gardens, where (he Treaty of Waitongi was signed. The guests were presented with Maori mats and a characteristic Maori welcome was accorded them.
