The county engineer (MV. 11. Y. Ihiiid) reported:— main highways. po\ton-Shannon.—The metalling coniraet has been commenced on ibis road from rhe Manawatu river end and grading has been carried out.

Whirnkino road. —The formation of the traffic ramp is now nearing completion and it has been metalled wide enough to allow traffic over. The whole job will bo tlnislied in a few days' lime. The road has been graded and several chains oi' side banking have been built up. Pox ton - Himataugi - llangioln road. —Grading lias boon continued on this road, surface metal has been spread and shoulders have been laiill up. The acceptance of (he lender of Messrs McKenzie and Duncan for the paving of live miles of this highway from Foxlon to Hi - matangi lias been continued by the Main Highways Board. Awahou. —Formation work on Spring's iicnl has been completed for a distance of approximately one mile. Repair work lias been curried out on Mntuiti road. Rowe's and Poplar roads are being metalled and Mr. f'ameron's road lias been pul in order after being in use for county purposes.—Received.
