DRINK AT DANCES.
DISCUSSED BY KAIRANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.
“In my opinion the solution of the drinking problem lies in the hands of young ladies, and if they objected to dapicing or associating with anyone under the inlluenee of liquor or even smelling of drink hall and cabarets would soon be clear of liquor,” said Councillor M. Moody at a meeting on Tuesday of the Kairanga County Council when a letter from the New Zealand Grand Lodge of Good Templars was read drawing attention to the grave and growing evil of allowing drinking in dance halls and cabarets in various parts of the Dominion.” Councillor P. J. Small said he was convinced there was no drinking in the halls in Kairanga county, with the exception of smoke concerts, which were attended by grown men. Councillor W. M. Voss: It is known there is drinking going on outside some of the halls, but it is difficult to know how to stop it. It was decided to reply to the letter advising that there was no drinking in the balls in Kairanga county.
