GAS WORKS

MAY WORKING. The following report, was presented at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council: — The amount of gas manufactured during' the month of May was 352,ot/Oft., which with the amount in the holder on May list 17,0(>0ft-, made a total of 369,<H>0ft. During the month 281,700 ft. was used by consumers, 25,000 ft. at the works and there was 17,000 ft. in the ladder on May 3.lst, masking a total of 320,700 ft. accounted for and leaving -12,300 ft. representing 11.1 per cent, unaccounted for. Thirtylive tons of coal were carbonised, yielding 10,000 e.ft of gas to the ton and producing It) tons of coke. The receipts for the month totalled £l-13 If! 11 and were made up as follows: —Das sales (lighting) £22 15/11, hear and power £ll2 10 3, coke sales £1 35/0, tar sales 8/0, services and liftings £1 IS/-, miscellaneous £1 8/3.

The expenditure for the month totalled £2OB 0/11 and was made up as follows: —ICoal £OB 5/10, salaries and wages £ll 13/4, cartage and freight £1 3/0, working exes. 11/-, Interest and Sinking Fund £O3 7/3. GAS MANAGER'S REPORT.
