IMPROVEMENT TO LOCAL EXCHANGE.
AI’TOMATIC DIRECT DIAL!.TNG WITH PA f.M.ERSTOX N. An installation is at present being made in the exchange at the local Post Office which should do much to expedite bureau rings to Palmerston North from Poxton. Mechanics are installing an automatic direct dialling system with Palmerston North, which means that when a ring is put through to Palmerston North from Foxton the -subscriber will be got direct from Foxton instead of the exchange clerks having first to call up the Palmerston North exchange. This should expedite rings to a great '•extent.
