TOWN HALL

Frank Albertson, eo-fentured in with Helen T'welveirees in “Blue Hides’’ has done some splendid work in previous Fox pictures, notably “Prep and Pep.” In “Blue Skies,” Saturday’s picture at the Town Hall, Albertson is east as the grown-up orphan. “Blue Skies" is a story of life in an orphanage, adapted by John Stone from Frederick Hazlitt Brennan’s magazine story, “The Matron’s Report.” The pick of Hollywood’s colony of child actors and actresses appear in the picture and some of them are featured in parts in which they do some amazing work. One of them is Freddie Frederick, called “The most versatile child in pictures,” and another is Carmencita Johnson, ■a child actress of proven ability. With “Cupids Boots” (Comedy), “Desert Skyscrapers” (Scenic), & News. Usual prices.

A story that is replete with thrills ancl action from start to finish provides the theme for Universal’s gripping melodrama “The Price of Pear,” starring Bill Cody and Duane Thompson, and which will he screened at the Town Hall on Monday. It introduces for the first time in Universal productions a star whose work in the picture is reminiscent of the early productions of Douglas Fairbanks and later of Richard Talnmdge. Hill Cody, the star of the picture, although he possesses a remarkable physique and muscular development that enables him to do the falls and make the outstanding leaps that ho does in this picture, literally carries his life in his hands in every' reel of the attraction. It is only by his high jumping, tumbling, jn-jitzu methods that he could feasibly handle with success the crowd of men that are pitched against him through the picture. Wlien odds are most against he does not hesitate 'to make desperate leaps, any length or any dejrth, but generally manages to land on his feet. All in all, his remarkable activities throughout the entire picture provide tense and gripping entertainment. Usual prices.
