OROUA DOWNS DEFEATS SURF
CLUB TEAM.
Yesterday afternoon the Foxton Surf and Life Saving Club’s newly formed /football team took the field for the first time in a friendly game with Oroua Downs at the Downs, fhe players were conveyed to Oroua Downs by Alessrs _S. (Austin, E. Reay and L. Alattar. 1 ,K ‘ ftame was keenly contested and \ot\ even. At half time no score had been registered by either side but in the last spell M. Moffatt gi minded the leather and converted his effort, placing Oroua Downs five points up. The home team sportingly refused to take any notice of the call of “time” at the end of the game and played on an extra ten minutes in order to allow Foxfcon to men up the score. This they failed to do, however, and Oroua Downs milled another six points when Moitatt and Scott scored. The game finally ended, Oroua -Downs il, Uoxton nil. Air. R. Seott controlled tiie game.
