BOWLING.

Yesterday afternoon two rinks from Shannon paid a visit to the local green to take part in friendly play. The afternoon proved a very enjoyable one, and at the conclusion, Air. Clayton, on behalf of the visitors, expvesed thanks for the hospitable way in which they had been treated. Air. Clayton said he would also like to voice appreciation of the Uoxton Club’s secretary. Ilis experience was that a secretary was a person who did most of the work but received the least thanks. Cheers were given for the home club and its secretary (Mr. R. Warwick). Mr. Clayton extended an invitation to bowlers to attend a dub tournament on the Shannon green on Easter Monday, nnd also an electric light evening before the green finally doses for the season.

Mv. .1. Thomson (president) acknowledged Mr. Clayton’s appreciative remarks, and called for cheers for the visitor’s. The following are details of the games:— Robinson, Newtb, Hinds,_ Alattar (s) 22, Collins, Book snr., Butt, Bo vis (s) 21. Easton, Ilowe, Walton, Huntley 1 s 1 21, Alexander, Hook, Grey, Clayton (s) 10. two games in the semi-finals for the Thomson trophies were played yesterday afternoon, Hamer and Stevenson (s) beating Seadden and TTeppncr (s), and Aitehison and Walker (s) graining a decision over Reav and Warwick.
