DR. GIBB VISITS D.H. SCHOOL.
Yesterday, prior to leaving Fox11>n, the Rev. James Gibb, D.D., paid a visit of inspection to the local D.H. School. He was accompanied by Mr. J. K. Horublow, i lialrman of the School Committee, who introduced him to the children, referring to the fact that it was the lirst occasion on which a Doctor of Divinity had visited the school. Hr. Gibb addressed the pupils of standards 4, 5 and 0 and later the pupils attending the secondary department. He urged upon them to be truthful at all times and to avoid excuses aud exaggeration. There could be no real character without truth, and it was always much better to take “a licking" for a wrong doing than avoid it by untruthfulness for the sting of the punishment never lasted more than a minute or so whereas the shame of deceit lasted for a very long time. The doctor also urged upon the children the necessity for pride in their school and teachers and was accorded cheers as lie left the school.
